Leadership Design with Dr Maureen Quigley
Let's explore how game design elements can transform traditional leadership approaches into more engaging and effective practices.
Through case studies from both industry and higher education, we'll demonstrate how to significantly boost team motivation and performance by incorporating elements such as
- Clear Progression Systems,
- immediate Feedback Loops, and
- Achievement Frameworks.
The session concludes with practical strategies for implementing gamification techniques in various leadership contexts, from performance reviews to professional development programs, while avoiding common pitfalls that can lead to superficial or counterproductive results. Level up YOUR Leadership!
Dr. Maureen Quigley, PhD is an Art Historian, a teaching professor, and an experienced academic administrator with nine years as Chair of the Department of Art & Design. Following a rewarding sabbatical in 2023-24, she has returned to the University of Missouri - St. Louis, where she now serves as Co-Director of the Center for Digital Humanities and Associate Chair of Art & Design.
As a scholar, her focus has shifted from traditional medieval manuscript studies to the exploration of gamified learning experiences and serious game design. This aligns with her deep interest in design thinking, online education, and innovative teaching methodologies. Maureen is currently pursuing a graduate certificate in Serious Games and Simulations from the School of Information Science and Learning Technologies at the University of Missouri.
